The
pictures shown above were taken during the construction phases, and
show the quality and detail of the work and the typical village scenes
of the Capital of the Island.
This home has been completely restored this year (2004) using local
stone and has timber floors throughout. Built on two floors, with 2
bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor. Access to this floor is
either through the front garden, or by external stone steps from the
upper floor, and also by the wooden staircase from the living area.
One of the bedrooms has an impressive stone archway leading into a dressing
room / wardrobe area.
Stairs lead up to the living / dining / kitchen area. Access to the
living room is through another wonderful stone doorway at the rear of
the property. The living area features an open stone fireplace, and
many traditional arched reveals. At the far end of this floor is a fully
fitted kitchen with oven / hob.
Leading through the double doors out of the living area you reach the
fabulous roof terrace, which affords uninterrupted views across the
Eristos valley out to sea. This house has been restored with emphasis
on the use of traditional materials and design, in keeping with the
village of Megalo Chorio and the needs of her people. The use of these
materials affords all year round occupation, with hot water supplied
through combination boiler.
